Nest Building

Welcome!

My name is Eilis.  I love vintage, chalk paint, and finding “treasures” for our home. Being a little obsessed with these three things, I’m beginning a new adventure.

I’ve signed a lease on a tiny space in a local antique mall.  I’m calling my booth, The Quaint Nest.  For the last couple of months, I’ve been shopping estate sales for treasures to sell in it. My family tells me that I have just found an excuse for hoarding…

My lease starts Monday! I’m terrible at waiting… so….I couldn’t wait that long to share something I’ve been working on for the booth.

I used Pure White Annie Sloane Chalk Paint with both clear and dark wax.

Here’s the before:

The shape of the legs and the raised flowers drew me in.  I knew this table had a great future as a painted piece!

The parquet top had lots of ridges.  I hoped the chalk paint would be able to cover them.  It did.  I used one more coat than usual on the top.

Please come back next week to see it (with lots of other great things) in my booth.

Unfortunately, I no longer live near an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint retailer.  I tried another brand (on another piece) and wasn’t as happy with the results.  Then, I found a wonderful stockist, who DOES mail ASCP products!  I have been extremely pleased with The Purple Painted Lady.  I think her prices and shipping charges are very reasonable.  Everything has come packed beautifully.  Great directions are included.  In fact, there are “how to” videos to watch on her site.   I loved coming home from work to this adorable package!

  1. I love the Purple Painted Lady, they do some beautiful work over there. Annie Sloans line is one of my top brand choices so far, but still on the hunt I want to try every brand out there!
